Health Risk Assessments

Annual wellness exams provide baseline data on an individual's health through the acquisition of vital statistics and complete blood analysis. The exams give a more specific look at a person's health status and can better identify immediate threats to their well-being or elevated risks for chronic diseases. A health risk assessment (HRA) is used to evaluate an individual's health risks and quality of life. The HRA serves as the first step in determining a person's risk factors for chronic disease or acute, potentially life-threatening conditions, but does not include blood draws for lab analysis. An HRA provides patients with valuable information regarding their health and provides tools necessary to move towards a healthier lifestyle.
1. Assess health status.
2. Estimate the level of health risk.
3. Provides feedback for improvement to health.

It has evolved from being primarily focused on the measurement of outcomes to now include an emphasis on comprehensive efforts, targeted outcomes, and collective responsibility. It includes the personal, social, economic, and environmental factors that influence the distribution of health outcomes, and the policies and interventions that affect those factors.
